“Abandoned” (registry term: Terbengkalai) — an incomplete project with no significant site activity for 6 consecutive months; or a winding-up petition filed (S.218 Companies Act); or the company under a Receiver & Manager; or the developer admitting inability in writing — and confirmed by the Minister under S.11(1)(c) of Act 118.
Late
“Late” (registry term: Lewat) — TEDUH status for a project behind schedule that has not yet met the sick-project definition.

Penang's list is short — can I skip the check?

No. Statuses move monthly — the 12 Lewat projects are the pipeline from which future Sakit entries come, and the list as at 29 Aug 2026 is a snapshot, not a guarantee. A short state list also says nothing about your own project.

My Penang project is Lewat. When can I claim LAD?

LAD runs from the delivery date written in your statutory SPA (Schedule G or H under Act 118), not from the day the project was marked Lewat. If that date has passed, the damages accrue at the contract rate and you claim them — through the Homebuyer Claims Tribunal for amounts up to RM50,000, or the courts above that. If the date has not passed yet, Lewat status is your early warning to start keeping records.

Island or mainland — which is safer?
