Who is BRDB? The company behind the projects
BRDB Developments Sdn Bhd, formerly Bandar Raya Developments Bhd, was incorporated in 1964, listed on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange in 1968 and taken private in 2012 [2]. The Edge reported in 2024 that it is now fully owned by A Khan Sdn Bhd [3]. Its office is at Menara BRDB in Bukit Bandaraya, Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur [1]. The chairman is Dato' Sri Akbar Khan [4]; Christopher Manivannan is group chief executive officer, with Yasmin Khan and Nazim Khan as co-deputy chief executive officers [5].
In Kuala Lumpur, BRDB is known for its developments in Bangsar, among them One Menerung and Serai Bukit Bandaraya [3]. One Eleven Menerung, one of two BRDB projects on PropertySifu, is a single 23-storey tower of 111 units [6] on a 0.83-acre freehold site [2]; KPKT registers it as 32-15 under BRDB Developments Sdn Bhd. Eden in Taman Duta, 146 units on 12.25 acres of freehold land, is also developed by BRDB Developments [5]. The other, Miranda Hill @ North Kiara, is developed by Freedom Estates Sdn Bhd under developer licence 11611, according to its project website [7]; KPKT registers it as RESIDENSI BUKIT MIRANDA (11611-2), with 552 units, and also registers Verdana under that company.
In Johor Bahru, Bandar Baru Permas Jaya, a 1,400-acre township launched in 1981, is developed by BRDB's wholly-owned subsidiary Permas Jaya Sdn Bhd [8]. In Selangor, the project websites name Pinggir Mentari Sdn Bhd (licence 13819) as developer of Tamansari in Rawang [9], Earth Pavilion Sdn Bhd (licence 11807) of Senja Lakeside Estate [10] and Impiana Impresif Sdn Bhd (licence 30367) of Federal Avenue [11]. The sources found do not state who holds the shares of these three companies or of Freedom Estates.
The Edge reported in 2022 that BRDB had over 500 acres of undeveloped land, mainly in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Johor [2]; in 2023 its chief executive said about 250 acres remained at Permas Jaya [8]. BRDB also lists projects in Australia, London and Pakistan [1].
