The Star described it in 2017 and 2018 as a 50:50 joint-venture company between Symphony Life Bhd, formerly Bolton Bhd, and United Malayan Land Bhd (UMLand) [2][3]. Symphony Life, listed on Bursa Malaysia's Main Market as SYMLIFE (1538), still held 50% of Alpine Return at 30 September 2025 and accounts for it as a jointly controlled entity [1]. Alpine Return itself is a private company and is not listed.
Star Residences stands on a site of about 4.2 acres and has three high-rise residential towers and five blocks of retail space; Symphony Life puts its gross development value at about RM3.0 billion [1]. The Star reported in 2018 that construction began at the end of 2014 and that Samsung C&T of Korea was the main construction partner [3].
