WCT was established on 14 January 1981 as WCT Earthworks & Building Contractors Sdn Bhd and later renamed WCT Berhad. WCT Berhad listed on the Second Board of the then Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange on 16 February 1995 and moved to the Main Market on 7 January 1999; on 8 July 2013 an internal reorganisation transferred the listing to WCT Holdings Berhad ^[1]. Its three core businesses are engineering and construction, property development, and property investment and management, and its registered office is at The Ascent, Paradigm in Kelana Jaya, Petaling Jaya ^[1].

The company says that since 1997 it has delivered more than 19,000 residential and commercial units worth RM7.4 billion in gross development value across the Klang Valley, Sabah and Johor, and that its land bank in Malaysia is about 185 acres ^[1]. Its townships include Bandar Bukit Tinggi 1 & 2 and Bandar Parklands in Klang ^[1]. Those are company figures that include commercial units; the KPKT register counts only projects licensed as housing, so WCT's malls, offices and hotels are not in the table above.

Property development is run by WCT Land Sdn Bhd. The Maple Residences and Aras Residences, in the 63-acre WCity OUG in Kuala Lumpur, are developed by WCT OUG Development Sdn Bhd, which WCT Land holds through WCT Premier Development Sdn Bhd ^[1]. The Maple Residences was completed and handed over in 2025; Aras Residences has two towers with a gross development value of RM1.03 billion, and its 636-unit Tower A was launched in the third quarter of 2025 ^[1]. Pavilion Mont' Kiara, launched in August 2023 with 336 high-rise units and five villas, is developed by Kekal Kirana Sdn Bhd, wholly owned by WCT Land, and is targeted for completion by the third quarter of 2027 ^[1]. KPKT also registers two completed Petaling Jaya projects, including The Azure @ Paradigm PJ, under Jelas Puri Sdn Bhd, a joint venture in which WCT Land holds 70% ^[1].

The executive chairman is Tan Sri Lim Siew Choon, a major shareholder of WCT who also chairs Pavilion REIT Management Sdn Bhd, the manager of Pavilion REIT; the group managing director is Dato' Lee Tuck Fook ^[1].
