Gadang Holdings Berhad was incorporated on 6 October 1993 as Lai Sing Holdings Berhad and listed on the Second Board of what is now Bursa Malaysia on 2 September 1994, in the construction sector ^[1]. In 1997 Tan Sri Dato' Kok Onn, now the group managing director, became its major shareholder, took over its operations and renamed it Gadang; the company moved to the Main Board, now the Main Market, on 24 December 2007 ^[1]. Besides construction and property, the group runs water concessions in Indonesia and a solar plant in Tawau, Sabah ^[1].

Its property arm, Gadang Land Sdn Bhd, was set up on 25 July 1996; its first project was 30 semi-detached factories in Shah Alam ^[2]. The company says the property division had a land bank of 100 acres, with an estimated gross development value of RM1.1 billion, at 31 May 2026 ^[1]. Twelve of the 13 companies counted here are wholly owned subsidiaries listed in the 2026 annual report ^[1]; the thirteenth, Harta Segambut Sdn Bhd, registered Prima Impian in Segambut, which Gadang Land lists among its completed projects ^[2].

Residensi Hana in Sungai Besi, Kuala Lumpur, is developed by Natural Domain Sdn Bhd ^[1], which also registered the three completed projects next to it, Residensi Vine, Residensi Vyne and Residensi Vyne Sungai Besi; the building holds a GBI Certified rating ^[3]. Zinnia Residence in Semenyih is registered with KPKT as Taman Akasia (19959-3) under Crimson Villa Sdn Bhd ^[1]. Laman Waringin in Kwasa Damansara is registered but not yet started; the annual report records a development rights agreement with Kwasa Development (3) Sdn Bhd over 24.08 acres in Mukim Sungai Buloh ^[1].

The chairman is Dato' Dr Tan Yew Chong, who succeeded Tan Sri Dato' Seri Dr Mohamed Ismail Merican on 1 December 2025, and the group managing director is Tan Sri Dato' Kok Onn ^[1].
